Upcoming Sing Along Events

Instructions for Sing Along Event participants

  1. If you have a tie dye T-shirt or top, this would be a great choice. Or perhaps you have a nice Hawaiian shirt? Just wear something that makes you feel like smiling, probably something colorful. And be sure to wear your smile!
  2. Please arrive 15 minutes before the event is scheduled to start.
  3. Bring your copy of the music for the setlist.
  4. You should bring a music stand if you have one.
  5. Of course you should bring a ukulele.
  6. Think about whether you might need a kazoo or harmonica for one or more tunes.
  7. Send a text to (515) 988-3680 or email to myDMUS@gmail.com if you have questions or need any help.

Pop Up Sing Along Events

A Pop Up Sing Along is a song circle with an audience. These are always fun for us and anyone who drops by to listen. They usually last a couple of hours and are very comfortable and informal. The facilitator will announce the time and place and will let you know what materials you will need, i.e., particular song books and music stands.

Donation made from recent Sing Along earnings

On 9/12/2019, DMUS made a $50 donation to the Ukulele Kids Club, https://theukc.org. This was from our ukulele club sing-along earnings from the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center earlier in the day and we make this donation in their honor.

DMUS made a $108 donation to the Ukulele Kids Club, https://theukc.org, on August 1, 2019. This was from our ukulele club sing-along earnings from two gigs at the Ankeny Farmers Market in Ankeny, IA, and an honorarium for a sing-along at Sunny View Care Center, Ankeny, IA. We asked that the money be used to support efforts at Blank Children’s Hospital, Des Moines, IA.

2019 AFM (Ankeny Farmers Market) - June 8, 2019 and July 27, 2019

A short video from June 8, 2019

Photos from the June 8, 2019 AFM and one from 2018

Last summer (2018) we did a couple sing alongs at the Ankeny Farmers Market (AFM) and had such a good time! Our “groupies” from Sunny View even came and joined us and cheered us on!

The Ankeny Farmers Market invited us back!! We got to play twice this summer and our dear friends from Sunny View returned! We appreciate the support so much! (Now that we clearly have a following, it’s more important than ever that we not take ourselves too seriously! Should be easy enough … after all, we play ukuleles. )

Where else we've been lately ... Heartland Senior Center

On Monday, April 29, 2019, we returned to the Heartland Senior Center, 205 South Walnut Avenue, Ames, Iowa 50010. They shared the collage above with us afterwards. They also had this to say:

“Thank you so much to you and all of the members of your group that came to perform for us on Monday! All of our participants enjoyed your music so very much. It brought such a high point to our day! We appreciate you taking time to come spend an afternoon with us!

“I hope that we can continue to have you come to perform in the future!”
